Mid-Pandemic, MSA Assists with Red Lodge, MT skatepark
As we all know, 2020 was one heck of a wild year. It started off as normal as any other year, but by March had gone sideways and upside down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For almost every human on the planet, life changed. For some it was minor. for others it was seismic.
Amidst all the uncertainty, stress and adapting that had to take place, the MSA continued right along with its mission of building skateparks. We were fortunate enough to team up with Evergreen Skateparks, Jeff Ament’s Montana Pool Service, Aaron Kyro’s Braille Skateboards, and a bunch of dedicated volunteers in the town of Red Lodge, MT to complete another park project (image above). This park replaced a flat concrete slab that had been initially spearheaded by one-time Red Lodge local Aaron Kyro … of Braille Skateboarding. Due to (extreme) neglect the wooden ramps and wobbly rails that occupied the slab were more of a hazard than anything else.
Thanks to several simultaneous fundraising efforts, the Red Lodge project was able to be started and completed almost within one calendar year. With the COVID situation on the cusp of being handled, and travel once again being able to happen … be sure to add Red Lodge, MT to your list of spots to hit up summer 2021.
