Eric Carlson's Bio

Eric Carlson has over 20 years of illustration and archaeological experience. He has worked as an on-site illustrator for large scale excavations at Neolithic and Early Bronze Age sites in Jordan; Early Monastic and Medieval sites in Western Ireland; and at Late Prehistoric village sites in Northwestern Alaska. His clients include archaeologists from the University of Notre Dame, University of Colorado Boulder, University of Oregon, University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Montana, Simon Fraser University, and the National Park Service. His work has appeared within and on the covers of archaeological publications and children’s books.
He has lectured and participated in panel discussions on the importance of dialogue and collaboration with members of indigenous communities when constructing images of the past.
He was born and raised in Juneau , AK and currently resides in Fairbanks, AK (and sometimes Missoula, MT)
