Girls on Shred set a goal a few years ago to extend its reach to rural skateparks across Montana. With so many communities experiencing the joy and wonder of a new skatepark, there is a growing need for mentors who can offer tips, teach skatepark etiquette, and share the diversity made possible when skatepark culture is inclusive.

This summer, GOS reached its goal and traveled over 800 miles in one week, offering free clinics in nine rural Montana towns. With a rotating crew of female skate instructors on hand, GOS met with participants in Lincoln, Great Falls, Big Sandy, Box Elder, Havre, Malta, Shelby, Browning and Whitefish. Every clinic was unique and catered to the particular needs of the individuals who came out each day.  GOS offered boards, helmets, and safety gear to borrow and gave away a number of full set-ups to local kids in need.

Thanks to a recent collaboration with Montana Pool Service, GOS has it’s very own signature skateboard model.  It was an honor to give away the GOS x MPS skateboards to the places who need them most! This tour was in gratitude to MPS and a nod to the many rural parks made possible by the collab orative efforts of The Montana Skatepark Association, Montana Pool Service, and the skilled builders at Evergreen and Dreamland.
