OnDeck 6 – Huge Success!
Well, now that the dust has settled on our recent 6th annual ON DECK skate art auction, we are happy to be sharing the details of how it all turned out. But before we pop the champagne and light the fireworks, we’d like to give another HUGE round of thank-yous.
First and foremost, our hats go off to every artist that got involved this year. We heard from a number of people that it seemed as if the quality of this year’s show had been raised a few notches. It’s always humbling when an artist from another town or state, who may not know a lot about the MSA, who may have never been to Montana, and many times might have nothing to do with skateboarding puts so much time and effort into their contribution.
We’d like to thank everyone who supported the show, either locally at the brink or via the Internet during the online bidding portion of the auction. We fielded lots of questions from around the country and even witnessed a few bidding wars take place. Because of your support, the MSA is able to keep doing what we do.
And of course, we have to say thanks to Jen at the brink for making the process so darn smooth this time around. Thanks for havin’ us Jen. We look forward to next year!
And now for the details:
- OD6 raised $8935
- To see how much each board sold for visit: OnDeck 6
- Aside from OnDeck 2 (when we auctioned 100 decks), OnDeck 6 was the most successful auction to date.
- OnDeck 6 made the cover of the Missoulian and the Entertainer.
We are pleased to announce that planning is underway for OnDeck 7. We look forward to seeing you on May 4, 2012 at the brink. If you are an artist or know an artist that would be a great addition to this annual event please visit our 2012 Call to Artist Form.
But wait. There’s more…
Before sipping the champagne, and enjoying the fireworks…
As it turns out, 2011 is somewhat of a milestone for the MSA. It was September 2006 when Missoula’s MOBASH skatepark opened to a crowd of nearly 10,000 eager supporters. This means that in a few months our park is turning 5 years old. To celebrate this occasion, MSA Board Member and photographer, Andy Kemmis, will be having a photography show in August at the brink gallery (go figure!). Simply titled “5,” this photography exhibit will feature approximately 100 black and white portraits, all taken at MOBASH, of people who have made the park their own since it opened. This show will open on Friday August 5, 2011 from 5-8 pm and will remain up for the duration of the month. We encourage you to check it out!
